Join our friends up at Steiner for an evening to share our love of poetry and literature.
With a mix of parents, students, alumni, faculty and staff, we plan to have a lively exchange of the art and role of poetry in the Rudolf Steiner community.
Our Poetry Café will feature original student work from grades six through twelve. Our award-winning recipients of last year’s New York City Robert Browning Poetry Competition, seniors Isaac Scheinfeld and Sasha Pinto, will share the poems that were awarded this recognition. Kristin Mathis, our new High School Humanities teacher, will read selections from her work. We welcome back Max Bärtges, class of ’03, whose poems are included in the 2002 National Poetry Anthology, and the International Library of Poetry’s Best Poems and Poets of 2007. Finally, the Poetry Café is proud to feature Silvia Ma. Siller Argüello de Heller, parent of Amalia, Gabriel and Daniel in our EC and Lower School programs. Silvia’s first poetry collection, De Mariposas y Mantis, won second place in the International Latino Book Award 2015. Her poetry collection, Early Morning #5, is a bilingual (English -Spanish) edition. Silvia received the Gabriela Mistral, Julia de Burgos and Frida Kahlo awardby the group Galo Plaza in New York for her contribution to the Latin American culture.
We look forward to a lively evening of sharing the love of poetry and literature that is fostered and lives deeply in our Steiner School community. Come discover what our students, alumni and parents are “saying” and why.
