New Amsterdam offers the Robin’s Nest Program for Morning Nursery and Kindergarten children from 12:30-3:15 PM. This program addresses the needs of working parents who want their children to participate in an afternoon care that is consistent with the principles of Waldorf education.
Each afternoon the children will eat lunch (brought from home) followed by a story or a song and nap. After their rest they will share in an activity and/or a period of free play followed by a healthy snack (provided by the school) before they are picked up at 3:15. The intent is not to structure this time with a whirlwind of activities, but rather to provide a secure daily rhythm within which the child is free to explore options.
To join the program please complete the Aftercare Registration Form, included in your welcome packet, and return it to the school by August 17th with your tuition check. To help the children in coming into the rhythm of Aftercare we ask that parents enroll their child a minimum of two days per week. We also encourage parents to carry the rhythm of aftercare into their home lives by offering their children a time of rest after lunch. The Aftercare teacher will speak more about this with parents at the beginning of the year, but it would be very supportive to have your child in this rhythm before the school year begins.
If you have any questions contact our Admissions Office at email@example.com.
Please note that there will be a late fee for students who are not picked up by 3:15 and the Robin’s Nest Program will not be in session during school holidays.
